About

Everything by design.

This is what I look like, but I have cooler glasses and a different hairstyle now.

Benzamin Yi

I am a data visualization designer based in the west coast of the U.S. with a M.S. in Data Visualization from Parsons School of Design. Currently, I am the Director of Data Visualization & Prototype Design at Nike and part-time faculty at Parsons teaching Data Visualization 101. Prior to relocating to Portland, I was a UI/UX Designer at NBCUniversal in NYC and a Freelance Graphic Designer working with awesome non-profit organizations and political consulting firms.

Before then, I was at a political economics think tank for five years doing research, design, and communications work in DC. My graphics have been published in various sources of media including the Huffington Post, Alternet, Upworthy, and Shareable.

Originally from LA, I studied philosophy (with minors in political science and environmental analysis & design) at the University of California, Irvine. I started learning how to design in 2004 out of personal curiosity and inspiration from many digital artists, and have been working as a designer in various capacities since 2008.
